Luta Livre
The Brazilian art of Luta Livre was created in the early half of the 20th century by Euclydes Hatem. Luta Livre was originally based on a type of Catch Wrestling and Judo submission techniques. Over the years many Luta Livre experts, like proffesor Roberto Leitao, helped evolve and refine the technical aspects of the art.
Luta Livre Esportiva & Vale Tudo
Luta Livre is foremost a grappling art where fighters use locks and chokes to submit each other. As a grappling system it is also called "Luta Livre Esportiva". By adding strikes Luta Livre also became succesful in Vale Tudo (no rules) tournaments in Rio.
This aspect of the art is also practiced at our school and is known as "Luta Livre Vale Tudo". This type of training is very similar to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
